FAQ

Ecoprint was developed to offer a more sustainable alternative to traditional business card print communications. While we are still using a finite resource to develop our product, we ultimately aim to provide a print product made completely from recycled materials to ensure print is part of everyone’s future.

What are the environmental credentials of your products and service?

Our papers meet great environmental standards across our full range.
Specifically… This is a breakdown of our paper products and ink.

350GSM uncoated – Made from 100% recycled materials
330GSM boxboard – Made from 100% recycled materials
Matt Stickers - Biodegradable.

We use waterless based printing techniques for our short run printing. This ensures virtually no water or VOC is used in our cleanup process.
We use Vege based inks for our long run printing (catalogues, magazines and large qty flyers). If you specifically wish to use Vege based inks for your printing project, please enquire about this at the time of purchase.

Do we offer graphic design for your business cards?

Yes. Our graphic design team has your design needs covered. From business cards to billboards we can help your brand get off the ground with innovative designs and complimentary services. Send your email through or your ideas and we can bring them to life. Contact us for more information, we’re happy to discuss your requirements.

Delivery Timelines

Yes, our printing and delivery timelines are great! But it’s important to remember that things do take time. So to break this down for you – most print takes 2 days to produce from your submission of correct artwork and invoice payment. If there is anything complex with your production (die cutting, foiling, additional print extras) this can push extra days to your production.

Delivery is based on our freight contractors. Metro delivery is generally within a few days and regional delivery is within 5 days. Perth or Western Australian delivery is tricky… so we’ll advise you on these delivery times on your order.

If you have an urgent timeline to meet, please let us know! We can print quicker, and also place your delivery within an overnight bag if you require. Extra fees may apply, but we can definitely meet your timeline.

What is bleed in printing?

What is bleed? Bleed is a printing term that refers to printing that goes beyond the edge of the sheet before trimming. In other words, the bleed is the area to be trimmed off. The bleed is the part on the side of a document that gives the printer a small amount of space to account for movement of the paper, and design inconsistencies. Artwork and background colours must extend into the bleed area. After trimming, the bleed ensures that no unprinted edges occur in the final trimmed document. Bleed in printing is extremely important if you have graphics that print to the edge of the card/paper.

We recommend a 2-3 mm bleed area on all artwork supplied to us for printing.

What is the size of a business card?

Business card sizes can vary, pretty much to whatever you like. However our standard sizing is 90x55mm. Our pricing shown on our website will always reflect our standard sizing, so please ask for a custom quote when requesting trims, folds, die cuts and any extras on your print.

Acceptable file types and design software

We accept print ready pdf’s. This is a pretty broad term, so we’ve listed the software that can generate a print ready pdf, as well as software that currently doesn’t build compatible pdf’s for our system. This is extremely important, as we find non-compatible software built pdf’s produce a lower quality print.

Supported software  –
Adobe Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop or Professional
CorelDraw
Autocad

Current non- supported software (we’ve found to produce errors)
MS Word
Powerpoint
Keynote
Pages
Canva (Sorry!)
MS Paint

Please note, it is possible to obtain a print ready file from some of the above, but you will need to understand how to flatten a file, and produce a finished file with bleed.

Custom shapes and die cuts

To submit your cards with a custom shape or die cut, we’ll require you to send a separate print ready pdf file showing just the die cut of your design and a JPG proofing file showing where the die and the print on the same page. Please ensure the following with your die cut design:

  • The die design matches the exact outside dimensions of your base card (ie if your business card is 90×55, the die design document size must also be 90×55).
  • On your die design, please use 100% Magenta to show the die lines.
  • On your die design, ensure everything is vectored.

From your submitted file, we will quote up your project.

How long does it take to print my business cards?

Ecoprint can have your beautiful business cards, in your hand within 3 working days! But to meet these quick turnaround times, we’ll need your print ready files, before noon on any given day. This quick turnaround is also limited to Metro areas in Australia. For all other areas, please allow up to 5 working days to receive your business cards.

If you are requesting any additional print services, like die cuts or custom shapes or additional finishes, this can increase production lead times. Please discuss these with your customer service assistant when placing your order.

Do you send out samples of your paper?

We can send samples on request. Even better, we can print your design on the sample card you choose - Sample packs pricing starts at $22.

How come you don't show your phone number?

We used to show our phone number on our website until quite recently. Now we don’t list it on our site and we receive much much less phone SPAM. If you need to contact us, please start via email – and we can then provide our full contact details.
